Meet the Maker

Emily Knowlton-Moffett, Nutritionist, B.S.

Creator, owner, chef, and lead dishwasher - Emily Knowlton-Moffett - has a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of New Hampshire. Spending time studying all of the subjects required to become a dietitian made her realize that medical nutrition therapy was not her cup of tea! She enjoys cooking, recipe creating, gardening and farm shopping too much to only focus on the nutrients. Throughout her time at UNH, Emily gravitated towards food science, cooking demonstrations, recipe altering, food service management and culinary coursework. She believes that food is not the enemy, trying to count each and every thing that goes into your mouth - crazy talk. Instead, she focuses on intuitive eating and your own body cues - as well as the basics of making more informed choices.

She’s a Disney lover, dog mom, dressage queen and apprentice gardener. She’s on a mission to figure out how to make the crustiest loaf of bread and the best coriander chutney possible. She spends the time she’s not obsessively scrolling through the internet and flipping through cookbooks for inspiration - or wedding planning - coaching real estate agents and teams for growth and productivity, as well as systematization.

The Balanced Brussel is a concept in the works for many, many months - thanks to the input of friends, colleagues, strangers - and this is just the beginning!

Deb Knowlton, M.Ed.

Deb Knowlton is not only the worlds best Mom, but also the worlds best chef, ledge talker offer, creative developer, CFO, gross pan dishwasher and business partner. When BB Take Home began, she was there from day 14 - helping to cook, serve, develop and build!

She has a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed. in Integrated Arts both from Plymouth State University - which comes in handy for all our creative integrations and planning. She’s been the backbone of the Jim Knowlton Home Team, the local Hopkinton Keller Williams office, as their listing partner and team leader. She’s an amazing planner, has never met a catering gig she couldn’t organize and is the best at making things turn out how you imagine them.

This business LITERALLY would not exist without her, we are so lucky as she is the Yin to my (Emily) Yang. Where I’m (sometimes) risky, out of the box, creative, too funky for my own good, hard headed (hot headed too..), and an all around pain in the B-U-T-T as a “boss”. She’s level, organized, good at keeping projects moving forward - she’s the one who does the reminding about the small details, keeps the small (and often extremely important) balls rolling that would otherwise be (regretfully) forgotten.

She loves the beach and Florida, specifically Venice. Vacationing with her fam, literally any time she can get everyone together. Cooking, eating really good food, gardening (sometimes), reading books (but not nerdy ones). She loves RunDisney, the Yacht Club, and drinking coffee outside. She’s a lover of her pupper Arlo, who is only outshined by how much she loves her daughters - Emily (me) and Kaylie (my sister - who is also, amazing) and her husband, Jim (who is also the worlds best Uber Eats driver ever).

Kaylie Knowlton, B.S.

Kaylie Knowlton has spent the majority of her career in Human Resources working with Concord School District and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL).

She comes to The Brussel with extensive administrative and systemic knowledge and is the first person you’ll hear from in an email! She loves talking to our couples, working through the initial discussions on their event and passing on those important details.

Kaylie is the queen of Cheddar Chive Scones, she’s the head charcuterie board creator and the only person who can make a meat flower look beautiful. She loves working out, traveling, eating at new restaurants around Boston and spending time with big sis (Emily).
